The Disney Gang
Several weeks ago I saw an advertisement in The Herald Journal about Disney on Ice and their 100 year celebration. With three young kids, I knew I must get more information about it, so I contacted The Herald Journal. I found out that by donating canned food or a frozen turkey, I could be the proud recipient (and cool Mom) of free Disney on Ice tickets. What better way to spend a fall afternoon?
After purchasing the turkey and two dozen canned food items, I took my son and daughter with me to deliver the food to The Herald Journal offices. When my 4 year old had the tickets in his hands, he was overjoyed and could hardly contain himself. I had explained to him that by donating food to help others we were in turn receiving these tickets so we could have fun as a family.
When the day arrived, we drove to Ogden and boarded the Frontrunner train for the ride to Salt Lake City. The ride on the train was our first and was very enjoyable and affordable. Upon arriving in Salt Lake City, we boarded Trax for a short 5 minute ride to Energy Solutions Arena. It seemed the fun was just beginning!
At Energy Solutions Arena, we were greeted by everything Disney, from mugs to cotton candy! The Arena filled quickly and the show started with a greeting from Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy and a few others. The show featured acts by Beauty and The Beast, Mulan, Pinnochio, The Incredibles, Lion King, Woody and Buzz Lightyear and many others. All the Disney princesses made an appearance too. During the show, I was filled with happiness when I saw the look of excitement on the face of my four year old son. My fifteen and twelve year old sisters seemed to be enjoying it just as much.
After the train ride back to Ogden and a bite to eat, we were headed back to Cache Valley. My heart was full of gratitude and appreciation. Our family outing day was so much fun and such a success! Thanks again to The Herald Journal for allowing us the opportunity to give to others and enjoy time together as a family!
