Noah and Ian enjoying the mud
Mud, mud and more mud!
The poem goes something like this: What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That's what little boys are made of !" I think we can add mud to that list! Anyone who has little boys will know that, unlike most little girls, boys love to get dirty. Recently, my Mom (Granny to my little guys) had my boys over for a sleepover. I had no idea that the following was going to happen, but from the looks of these pictures, I can tell the boys had a really fun time. I don't know who came up with the idea, but somehow Aunt Hannah ended up convincing Ian and Noah that it was ok to come out and join her in the "hippo bath". At first the boys were a bit reserved, but within no time they were having a ball sliding and sloshing around in the muddy water. I'm sure they spent a great deal of time getting as muddy as could be. I heard about it the next day when I went to pick Ian and and Noah up. After seeing thier clothes dried stiff as boards and caked with mud, I had to see it for myself.
So, being a Mommy of boys, I had them put those crunchy clothes back on and once again they set Gramps' hose out in the garden to bring that mud back to life. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! It was so fun to watch them getting muddier by the minute. It wasn't long before they found out that throwing that thick gooey mud at each other was the best of all. Wouldn't you know it that before they were through, Ian had so much mud on him that his hair was grey and they both had mud caked on thier faces (and in thier ears!).
Boys will be boys and bring us joy, mud and all!
